Bees – Live Stream

Watch our honey bees in action with our live streaming honey bee camera.

Watch our live feed video stream of two of our honey bee hives in action. In the morning as the temperature rises, field bees leave the hive and return with pollen and nectar. On hot days some of the bees will “beard” on the outside of the hive to keep cool. On cooler days the bees will be busy inside working on building honey comb, fanning nectar with their wings to turn it to honey and raising the brood. Bees are most active in the spring when flowers are in bloom. During the winter bees cluster inside to keep warm. Honey in capped comb towards the outside of the boxes helps insulate the hive and maintain its warmer temperature. When nectar isn’t flowing, honey bees must rely on their stored food reserves to see them through the dearth (scarcity of nectar).

If you watch and listen to our live bee camera you may notice various activities. Guard bees may patrol or sit near the entrances to keep a watchful lookout for threats. Worker bees come to the front to clean the entrance, push out debris and even dead bees on occasion. When a new generation of field bees come of age they fly around the hive in circular patterns to familiarize themselves with the area. When this happens there could be hundreds of bees in the air considering that the queen bee can lay up to 2,000 eggs in a single day.

If you enjoyed watching our Angry Bees we would greatly appreciate a thumbs up. Every bit helps keep our live feed streaming so others may enjoy watching bees work.
